About The Cornealius Properties Wedding Venue
The Cornealius Properties is a love story that is 37 years in the making. Don and Joann Neal had known each other for as long as they could remember. Growing up, their houses were, as Joann says, “within shouting distance from each other.” They didn’t actually make things official, however, until they worked together at the O’Berry Center where they had both had careers in human services. After tying the knot, they started to remodel houses, adding a touch of beauty to ordinary spaces.
Eventually, they got the wild idea to use that knowledge and foresight to create a different kind of setting. Their daughter, Brooke, had started her own life as a flower farmer, and they wanted to provide a space where her business could really bloom. They marked the property sight in 2020 and quickly began to create the open-air space, Birdsong Chapel. They kept both their love of family and their commitment to the community at the heart of the project. To this day, the family continues to work together to provide a picture-perfect space where you can write the next chapter of your own love story!
Details of the Grounds
With The Cornealius Properties, you will have your choice between two settings: The Lewis Atkinson Home and Birdsong Chapel. Both spaces were created with an all-white aesthetic created to blend in seamlessly with your decorations. The Lewis Atkinson home stands as a testament to refined elegance and timeless charm. A wrap-around front porch is ideal for portraits, while the interior offers everything you need for getting ready ahead of your ceremony. For those who don’t want to deal with the stress of driving across town before your wedding, the venue lets you rent out the home throughout your wedding weekend, giving you a cozy space to stay with up to 12 members of your wedding party.
If you would like an outdoor wedding, the verdant forests and the rolling hills will be the perfect backdrop. Once your ceremony is over, your guests can remain outside for a garden party, or they can head inside for a reception inside the sprawling ballroom. If you do plan for an outdoor wedding, they feature a pavilion with a covering in case the forecast calls for rain. Whether relaxing by the fireplace in the cozy living areas or taking in the breathtaking views from the expansive windows, guests are sure to be at ease here.
The Beautiful Birdson Chapel And More At The Cornealius Properties
For couples who prefer a more traditional route, the Birdsong Chapel is your spot! Nestled in the midst of the forest, this open-air space lets you combine nature with luxury for a ceremony unlike any other. With this spot, your day will begin in the Honeymoon House bridal suite, where you can get ready in front of brass-framed full-length mirrors. Chandeliers and vintage-inspired furniture add a thoughtful touch to your portraits. Meanwhile, your partner can head out to the Camp Cabin, where they will have access to a full kitchen, a grill, a basketball hoop, and an outdoor fireplace. They even have a pond stocked with fish available to be used! Both of these spaces can be rented out so you can stay on the grounds throughout your weekend.
The Birdsong Chapel itself is the spot that made The Cornelius Properties so famous! This woodsy church features cathedral ceilings with Gothic window frames that let in plenty of fresh air throughout your ceremony. Your guests will be seated on wooden pews inside the sanctuary beneath industrial white fans that will take care of the potentially brutal North Carolina heat. You will exchange your vows beneath cast iron black lanterns with the dense woods just behind you. Once you have that shiny new ring on your finger, your guests can head outside and enjoy a cocktail hour around the brick fireplaces before they head into the air-conditioned reception space modeled after traditional southern barns. With Cornealius Properties, you will be able to accommodate up to 250 guests.

When you rent out either property, you will be given access to all the buildings and the surrounding nature on-site. This will give you the get-ready spaces as well as catering kitchens for your vendors. The venue will give you 200 white Chiavari chairs, 12 custom-built farm tables, and a custom Sweetheart table. They will also provide you with a bar on wheels that you can set up wherever you’d like. My favorite part? The venue will let you use their family’s 1931 Model A Ford for a chauffeured drive-away after your wedding. Trust me, it will be a picture-perfect moment! In addition to all these amenities, their package has more features that will guarantee you can have your dream wedding!
